What is Mental Health First Aid Training?
Over 4 half days, or 2 full days, our in-house team of instructors will train individuals from your organisation to become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®).
The training will support learners to:
- Gain the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of a colleague experiencing poor mental health
- Be confident starting a conversation and signpost to appropriate support
Workshops can be held face-to-face or online via Microsoft Teams with up to a maximum of 16 learners.
What is the role of a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace?
The role of a MHFAider® in the workplace is to support and act as a point of contact for employees who are experiencing poor mental health or emotional distress. This support could range from having an initial conversation, to signposting them to appropriate help.
In England, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year, so, having MHFAiders® across your workforce, could be invaluable.
How will our MHFAiders® be supported after the training?
Alongside the best evidence-based Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, MHFAiders® are also provided with three-year access to ongoing learning and support through the MHFAider Support App®. The app gives learners 24/7 digital support, access to exclusive resources, ongoing learning opportunities, and the benefit of joining England's largest community of trained MHFAiders®.
We are determined to ensure your MHFAiders® are supported beyond the initial training and so learners will also be offered free quarterly, online peer support meetings with a trained MHFA Instructor for 1 year after their training, to ensure that they are continuously supported in their role as an MHFAider®. These peer support sessions can be extended beyond the first year if an organisation would like.
Poor mental health costs UK employers up to £56 billion each year. But for every £1 spent by employers on mental health interventions, they get back £5.30 in reduced absence, presenteeism, and staff turnover.
How much does Mental Health First Aid Training cost?
The below costs are for organisations based within the Leicestershire County Council boundaries. If you are based within Rutland, visit Healthy Workplaces Rutland or if your organisation is based in Leicester City or outside of the county, please contact us for more information.
There is no VAT chargeable for our MHFA training.

Why do some services cost more if I am a larger organisation?
By charging organisations based on the number of staff that they employ, we aim to provide all Leicestershire based organisation equitable access to the chargeable products of the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire programme.
